Ooty also known as
Udhgamandalam is the “queen of hill stations”. It is the capital of Nilgiris
district. It is one of the most popular tourist resorts in India.
We mention below some of the
places you should see if you travel to Ooty some day in your life.
OOTY:
1.
Botanical Garden.
This is
maintained by the Horticulture Department of the Government of Tamil Nadu. If
you visit there, you can see there..
· well maintained beautiful lawns
· rare tree species
· 20 million year old fossilized tree
· an Italian style garden boardering a pool.
· Wide variety of flowering bushes and plants.
· Fern house
2.
Rose Garden.
This covers
around ten acres of land and has a collection of more than 1000 varieties of
roses in this garden.
Some of the
highlights are..
· Miniature roses
· Hybrid tea roses
· Ramblers and floribunda
· Roses of unusual colours including black and green.
3.
Ooty Lake.
This is also called as boat house lake.
The British
ruler called John Sullivan, who was the first collector of Udagamandalam
contructed this lake in the years 1823-1825.
This covers
an area of 65 acres and offers boating
facility to tourists. The boat house is located alongside of the lake.

also available for ride here.

Dotabette Peak.
It is the
highest peak (2623 m) in the Nilgris district. You can have a panoramic view of
landscape through TTDC telescope.
5. Tea Factory.
A detailed explanation is given on tea production process. Visitors can witness the entire process by which green tea leaves get processed to reach the stage we have at home. At the end you are given a cup of tea. After tasting it you may buy there various flavoured tea – plain tea, strong tea, cardamom tea, chocolate tea, green tea and etc.
